Topical Castor Oil for Eyebrow Growth after Microblading

This is a vegetable oil that comes from the seeds of the castor oil plant. There are different types of castor oil, depending on the processing method. We recommend applying unrefined, cold-pressed, organic castor oil from a glass jar or BPA-free plastic container directly to the brows before sleeping.

It is highly recommended that clients test castor oil on an area of skin away from their eyes and face before using it on their eyelashes. If people experience any irritation from the castor oil, they should wash it off and stop using it.

Ancient Ayurvedic Medicine as well as the famous prophet Edgar Cayce recommend topical castor oil for many remedies, including lustrous hair, lashes, and brows. Ayurvedic medical texts explain that castor oil is classified under the principle of “prahbav”, which is a Sanskrit word meaning “unexplainable mystery”. Since castor oil has “prahbav”, we can ascertain there is something magical about this oil, but science may not be able to make sense of it. 

Science does know that high levels of prostaglandin D2 can inhibit hair growth and is found elevated in bald men with androgenetic alopecia. One 2015 study found that ricinoleic acid was a potential prostaglandin D2 inhibitor, which means that it may be useful in preventing hair loss.

The good news is that castor oil contains 90% ricinoleic acid, according to a study in the International Journal of Science and Research. Ricinoleic acid has been proven to inhibit the production of prostaglandin D2, thereby enhancing and promoting hair growth.
